Joseph Tarquini’s Extensive Skill Set

Joseph brings a diverse and highly developed skill set to FP&A. Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, Essbase, SAP, Adaptive (Workday) and PowerBI, he is an expert in strategic decision-making, predictive analytics, and comprehensive reporting. Among his other skills are advanced Excel modeling, management presentations, and executive level communication.

Professional Experience

Joseph has built a strong career in FP&A, helping multiple organizations deliver cost savings and margin expansion and achieving best-in-class FP&A strategies.

In October 2013, he began his professional career by working as a staff accountant at Holman Frenia Allison, P.C. He remained with the firm until March 2015, auditing school districts and townships, conducting substantive tests, and preparing journal entries. His experience with the firm strengthened his analytical skills and financial accuracy and deepened his understanding of financial reporting and compliance.

From March 2015 to June 2017, Joseph worked as a financial analyst at The Children’s Place, managing a $200 million+ expense budget by store. In this position, he met weekly with the CFO and COO, presenting financial updates and recommending cost-saving initiatives.

Among Joseph’s most notable accomplishments was the development of a payroll model that optimized labor allocation across more than 1,000 stores, resulting in over $10 million in annual savings. Additionally, he prepared monthly and quarterly business packages to support senior leadership in decision-making.

Working closely with the department VP, Joseph analyzed and forecasted company health benefits, further strengthening his expertise in financial planning and operational efficiency.

From June 2017 to January 2020, Joseph served as a senior financial analyst at Fiserv Investment Services. He managed a $175 million+ revenue and $100 million+ expense P&L, supported deal execution, and led due diligence during the sale of Investment Services.

Joseph also played a key role in pricing models, revenue and expense forecasting, and a staffing initiative that saved the company $5 million. Additionally, he prepared monthly accruals and financial reports and mentored one direct report and a summer intern.

Since January 2020, Joseph has been the FP&A manager at Avaya, overseeing a $300 million expense budget and a 2,000-person workforce. Apart from leading monthly reporting, he spearheads savings initiatives that will save the company a projected $20 million and played a key role during the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Charitable Works

Giving back to the community has always been a priority for the Tarquini family, inspiring their commitment to charitable work. Joseph’s grandfather established The Tarquini Foundation, a family-run charitable organization. Inspired by this legacy, the family aims to create a new foundation in memory of their daughter, Maria, to support meaningful causes and make a lasting impact in the community.

Behind the scenes, Joseph is a devoted husband and father, committing himself to his family above all else. He loves playing games and engaging in sports activities with his kids, and the entire family is especially attached to their pet Boxer.

Joseph is an avid sports fan, especially of the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies. He is also a devoted follower of the Michigan Wolverines and takes every opportunity to enjoy football, ice hockey, and baseball events.

As an athlete himself, Joseph enjoys skiing, playing ice hockey, and golfing whenever the opportunity arises.
